Ms Spears, I'm not feeling stronger than I did yesterday...
Today was not the best day for me. But everybody has bad days, right? Everybody, at some point or another, gets yelled at, screamed at, or had someone really upset with them for reasons beyond their control. Or maybe something happens in your family that just devastates you. Maybe your personal relationships aren't working out the way you want them to, or maybe there is so much stress floating around you that you can barely come up for air.
I'm there.
Stressed out, ready to cry, feeling as though I might break at any moment... I'm there. Is there anything that can make this day better, is there anything that can turn it all around?
Of course there is.
First, I think it's important to remember that you don't know what's going on in other people's lives. If someone is taking their anger out on you, try to remember that it might have nothing to do with you.
God tells us in James 1:19 "My dear brothers and sisters, pay attention to what I say. Everyone should be quick to listen. But they should be slow to speak. They should be slow to get angry. "
Quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger. Just because someone is angry at us, does not mean that we should become angry at them. We do not know their situation, we do not know what's going on in their life. We should be a positive experience in their crappy day, we should listen, we should care. And if you feel like you have to pull teeth to show a smile, then pull away, because your smile might be the only thing positive that they see in their day.
To conclude this blog, I'd really like to end on a positive note that always reminds me that things get better.
The verse is Matthew 6:34 which says, "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. "
But I really like the way The Message words this verse. In The Message this verse translates as, "Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don't get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes." - Matthew 6:34
So maybe we aren't stronger than yesterday like Britney Spears was back in 2000, but at least we don't have anything to worry about for tomorrow because God has got it ALL under control!
Now if that doesn't brighten up your bad day just a little, then know that I am praying for you :)
