the BIG real & REAL big message

I've had a lot laying on my heart lately about loving those who are sometimes hard to love. For instance, you have your friends who are easy to love and then you have your foes, which are a little harder to gush out love for. I'd like to say that I have no foes, but the truth is there has been many times when people have rubbed me the wrong way & I'm sure that people have felt the same way about me (because I'm brutally honest). But seriously, what happens when people treat you wrongfully, or you do something hurtful to them? How do you fix that? Well, in the Bible, it says....

"But love your enemies, & do good, & lend, expecting nothing in return, & your reward will be great, & you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful & the evil. Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful." Luke 6:35-36

WOW. What a home run. How hard is it to love the ungrateful? Pretty hard. But Jesus says we should do it anyways! Now, God wants us to know that when we love, we should do it humbly. We shouldn't expect them to accept it, or return with any great favors. However, IF we love them in such an unselfish way, he will bless us.

Now, here's the BIG real, & REAL big message... Jesus gave his life for us, even though we were ungrateful, selfish, flaky, opinionated, rude, spiteful people. He could have cared less if we ever thanked Him for His humble act of love, but the reason he didn't care is because he did it out of love. He didn't do it for the glory, praise, or honor. He died because he loves us and cares about us.

We should all do things out of love. For whatever grudges you've had, for whoever you've blown up secretely in your head, for whatever differences you've had with someone.. for once... put them aside and try to find that love that was given by God to all of us. Maybe that will change your life in a way you never expected.
