Little Nuggets

So I made the decision to read the whole Bible again this year. It was a challenge I gave myself in 2015 and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. I decided this year it was going to be SO important for me to stay in the word daily since I am a new mom navigating motherhood. My life, now, not only affects me, it affects my daughter too - every emotion I feel, every reaction I have, and every word I say. She may be little - but she’s watching, she’s learning, she’s imitating and soaking in every little thing I do. Scary right?! I’d love to tell you that during my maternity leave I have scrubbed every baseboard in my house, organized every drawer, and solved the equation for meal planning and prepping - but, oh, how God must laugh at me when I have plans. I have spent most of my maternity leave breastfeeding my baby girl on the couch and in the bed, changing blowouts I had no idea such a small baby could make, and trying to remember the last time I ate or drank something. Motherhood 101

This is for all the new mommas out there! We are wrapping up week 7 and going on 8 weeks now and I’m realizing how hard motherhood is and the fact that nobody can prepare you for it. It is also the most rewarding experience and no one can explain how much you will love that lil nugget either. Here’s the things I’m learning... The house work can wait. Yes, girl! Let that laundry pile up - load that dishwasher down - don’t make the bed. Seriously, you just carried around a baby for 9 months. You did all the prepping you could. Now, hold that baby and get all the baby snuggles. They are only little for a little while.  Stay hydrated and don’t forget to eat. You are their sole source of food and they need you to take care of you so you can take care of them. Also, don’t beat yourself up if you aren’t eating the healthiest diet - I get that it’s hard to make and eat a salad holding a newborn. If you can’t set them down - just grab that pop tart out of the pantry and rock that b...
