For starters...
So, for those of you who don't know me, I'm Ashley. Twenty-one years old, learning I'm not invincible and also learning that life is complicated. I am so blessed to say that I am totally in love with God and learning that HIS way is the ONLY way. I find myself in everyday situations saying, "Ok God, I've got it. You made yourself clear. I'll do it your way!" And I am not ashamed to admit that I am not always the best judge of decisions for my life. The point of believing is to be humble and fearful of God. Trust me, I'll talk plenty more about my walk by/in/of faith in future blogs. But with my first blog, I really want you to get to know me.
I just recently got engaged. I say recently even though it was in August, because it still feels so fresh (hey, thats like 4 months!). The words engaged, fiance, and marriage are all really new to me, even though my future husband and I have been talking about it for years. His name is Justin and he is everything I ever prayed for in a man. He without a doubt stole my heart the first time I laid eyes on him. And if anyone ever tells you that love at first sight does not exist, they lie. Because it does. But it's so much different from the love that he and I have acquired over the years. We just celebrated our 4year 9month anniversary on Monday (yes, I still count months!) and he reminds me everyday of why I fell in love with him.
I have an amazing family background. My parents are my rocks. They brought me up in church and instilled a vibrant passion for Christ in my life. I have an older sister named Whitney and she certainly taught me pretty much everything I know about being a woman, having sassiness, and being your own person. She was such an inspiration while I was growing up because she was always showing me that it didn't matter what people thought of you.. that what was important was to be unique and be your own type of beautiful. My mother is my go-to-gal. She is a beautiful woman that teaches me new things everyday. I know I get my nurturing side from her, because she, without a doubt, is the MOST caring person that I know. And my father, he is a walking dictionary. He constantly kept me on my toes and consistently pushed me to be the best that I could be. He was never negative or abrasive in his ways, he always supported and pushed in a healthy way. My parents are definitely who made me who I am and who I'm growing to be.
Now for my friends... I have so many of them. Some play a big part in my life, and others play a small role, but no matter what part they play... the important take away is that the friends I do have.. care. They care about me and my life. It's so uplifting to have friends who genuinely care and don't use you to climb the social ladder of popularity. My friends are my support throughout my struggles, my shoulder to cry on, and blah blah blah. Can I just say my friends are awesome? YES I can... because, it's my blog!
I can't wait to really start this blog and grow as a person while I'm doing it. Hopefully you won't mind too much learning a little about me a long the way, but I'm really hoping this blog will be an open door to my heart and if you can... please refrain from judging me. That's for God to do. :)
