Good, Good Father
Have you ever sat down just to soak in the vastness of Gods love? I don’t think I’ve ever truly been able to grasp it, but after becoming a mother - I can relate to the unconditional love that God has for me. I can see how deep a love can grow, how wide it can span, how endless it can be - but I still know Gods love is greater.
In my challenge, this year, to read through the Bible, I was confronted with this scripture...
“So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead of a fish? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?” Luke 11:9-13
This hit me hard today.
As I listened to my daughter cry out, I realized she was asking for me, seeking me out, knocking on my door. Maybe she was hungry, needed a diaper change, or just needed some cuddles (or snugs as I like to call them ☺️). Sometimes it’s more complicated as her and I both struggle to communicate and understand each other. But I try to figure out what she needs, because I’m her mom and that’s my job - to care for her, to love her unconditionally, to help her, to guide her, to shepherd her.
Here’s where the story gets really good...
God loves me with that kind of love.
God loves you with that kind of love.
When I’m crying out to him, seeking him, asking him - he’s there and already has plans to meet my need. Maybe not in the way I hoped or the time table I planned, but he knows better, because he is my Father.
He has good and perfect plans for me.
He has good and perfect plans for you!
Let me encourage you today - whatever you’re asking for, whatever door you want to open, whatever you are seeking - God knows. He knows it all and He has good and perfect plans for you, because He is the perfect Father. He might not answer in your timing or the way you envisioned it, but one day He will be able to explain to you His good and perfect plan. I encourage you to be joyful in your present. Even if you can’t see it right now, God is working. He never stops. He never stops working.
