In God’s Time
As I sat among my closest friends one evening, I realized the conversation had changed. The intricately planned weddings and house buying conversations had changed to Boppys, mamaroos, nosefriedas, and bumbos - so many terms I knew nothing about. And while my heart was incredibly happy for my friends, my mind kept telling me, I was missing something.
I went to about 6 baby showers in a two year time frame. I felt bombarded with emotions that were opposite of the fruits God called me to bear. For the most part, I felt I held it together, but at one of the last showers I attended, I remember getting in my car afterwards and crying my eyeballs out. Another day, I was out grocery shopping when a friend’s mother commented on how all my friends we’re either pregnant or already had a baby and when were we going to join the club...?
Instant heartache.
As I held back my tears that day, I could only kindly respond with a forced smile, “In God’s time.”
It took me a long time to fully understand that God not only has a plan and purpose for my life, but also for my child’s life. To understand that he is guiding me down a narrow path (that isn’t always easy to follow) to do things for HIS glory and not my own. I learned we have to find gratitude for the life we are living and not the life we feel like we are missing.
I don’t know who my daughter will share Jesus with one day. I don’t know who she’ll be friends with, or who she’ll marry, or where she will go to college. But, I do know that God has had her life planned out from the very beginning of time and his timeline is perfect because He can see the big picture.
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10
There’s no perfect scenario. You may still find yourself feeling hurt or jealous in this season, but we have to find gratitude for the life we are living. Maybe that life calls you to be a mom to biological children, or adopted children, or foster children, or maybe your a mom figure to everyone you meet! Whatever plan God has for your life, know that he has worked everything out for the good of those who love him.
“We know that in everything God works for the good of those who love him. These are the people God chose, because that was his plan.” Romans 8:28
Pray that God will remove your doubt, and show you how to fully trust him. Pray that God will remove your jealousy, and show you how to be joyful always. Pray that God will remove your fear, and show you how to confidently stand in faith and follow his path for your life.
I know this season can be difficult but I promise you, God is good and his plans are bigger than we can see. I’m here for you mama! I’m praying for you. I’d love to hear from you and help walk you through this season. Let me know how I can help you ❤️
