My Motherhood Survival Kit

This post is a little different than my other posts, but I’ve got a few friends that are expecting little bundles soon and I wanted to give a shout out to some of my favorite things that helped and still help me feel like a put together human in this journey of motherhood. ((Side note, I’m not getting paid to recommend any of these brands/products - just recommending based on my personal love for these products))

..ONE.. Jesus! Whether it was just saying a prayer, doing a quick study, or my challenge to read the Bible through this year - spending time with Him and getting in his word has made all the difference. When I feel overwhelmed - he is the one that keeps me together.

..TWO.. Coffee. It seriously does not matter what form you take it in - cold, hot, black, with cream - it’s all good! And the caffeine will save you when your functioning on little, to no sleep. A sweet friend of mine gifted me a pack of Starbucks pumpkin spice latte packets that you mixed with hot water and they were lovely!

..THREE.. Aveeno positively radiant 60 second in shower facial. My sister made me the best postpartum basket and this was in it! I was thankful to have a husband that let me take long showers in those first few weeks, but when he went back to work - I had to figure out a game plan. This facial did just the trick. It’s got micro-beads to help exfoliate your skin and leaves your face refreshed and hydrated. And bonus - it takes 60 seconds and you’ll feel like a queen.

..FOUR.. Thayers witch hazel with rose water. I buy this at GNC. They have different scents but the rose water is my favorite. I’ve always had troublesome skin (occasional breakout) and this has been a lifesaver for me. It’s mild but helps remove all the grime from the day - plus it smells amazing!

..FIVE.. Rose hip seed oil. I also buy this at GNC. The brand I use is Now Solutions, but I’m sure any brand would be just fine. I have used this product for YEARS! I cannot rave about it enough. I became a fan of oils when I was in the beauty industry. The benefits they have on your skin are endless. Rose hip seed oil hydrates, brightens(bye bye dark circles), boosts collagen, reduces inflammation, helps with acne, protects against sun damage, and is anti-aging! Plus it’s not expensive, a little goes a long way, and one bottle lasts me several months! You’re welcome.

..SIX.. LOreal lash paradise mascara. If I were stuck on a deserted island and could only take one makeup item - it would be mascara! I have used so many different kinds of mascara throughout the years, but this one was a game changer. I love finding a good product that doesn’t break the bank. I’ve been using this mascara since it came out in 2017 and I’ve recommended it to all my closest friends and now you! Nothing like a little makeup to make you feel more put together when life be crazy! Am I right?!

..SEVEN.. Not your mothers way to grow leave in conditioner. If no one has told you yet, let me be the one to tell you that your hormones go all out of whack again! Yes growing a baby throws your hormones out of whack, but when you pop that little nugget out - they go crazy again. After I had my daughter, my hair was so incredibly dry! I spritz this leave in conditioner a couple times on damp hair and it leaves my hair feeling amazing and so much stronger. It also comes in handy to have stronger hair when your baby gets all grabby with your hair haha (we are in that stage now!)

..NINE.. Love beauty and planet argon oil and lavender body lotion. This was another beautiful gift from the postpartum basket my sister gave me! I didn’t realize how much I would appreciate a lightly scented, good for me, lotion. My husband even commented how great I smelled (bonus!). Perfumes can be a lot for your baby, so having a lotion that’s lightly scented and calming was a plus for me!

..TEN.. Kashi dark mocha almond bars. There is no hunger like a breastfeeding hunger. Those first few weeks, I needed snacks on the reg! I kept a few of these in my nightstand to grab, as needed. And I still keep them stocked in my pantry. They are healthier than most bars, and taste amazing.

Well ladies and gents, that’s it. That’s my top ten! As a mom, it’s so important to take care of yourself, because you can’t pour from an empty cup.  If you have questions, please reach out to me. Let me know what your favorite things were as a new mom! I’d love to hear!

xo, A
