When nature calls...

People are a lot like plants. Sometimes we are getting too much sun, or maybe not enough.... being under watered or underfed... maybe even just being neglected. But there is nothing so far gone, that God cannot bring it back to its full potential of beauty.

I recently had a mint plant that was looking rather rough. It was beautiful over the summer, full luscious green leaves, just overflowing from its pot... but, as plants usually go for me, eventually life got busy, and my mint plant wasn’t a priority. It’s leaves started to crinkle from dryness, the once beautiful full branches we’re becoming bare.  When I finally noticed what I had done, I put my google search to use about how to revive it.  Did you know you have to remove everything that’s already dead? New life can’t grow when the decaying lies around it.. Which made me start thinking, you think God is ever just waiting for us to realize that we have to remove the ugly, sinful, bad attitude, wrong crowd, stuff out of our life so he can mend our broken spirit to make us beautiful, lovely, and whole again? Or that we are feeding ourselves with empty things of this world that will never fulfill us when we should be nourishing our souls with his word?

I want to encourage you today to not lose hope... no matter where you are in your spiritual journey, God has not given up on you. He can take the broken and make it whole again. He can also take the lifeless mint plant and restore it to its beauty.
